Education and ExperienceBachelor’s Degree or higher in Nutrition, Dietetics, or Science in Food, from an accredited college/university, plus one?(1) year of work experience in health, nutrition, education, wellness, food service management, or a related field. 


Licenses and CertificationsRegistered Dietitian with the American Dietetic Association and licensed in the State of Texas at the time of appointment. Valid Texas Class “C” Driver’s License or equivalent from another state by the date of appointment.

Requirements

Under administrative direction, manages Women, Infants, and Children's (WIC) program operations in compliance with local, state, and federal laws, ordinances, rules, and regulations. Administers a group of WIC centers, including management and supervision of staff and related resources. Provides high-risk counseling to WIC participants.

Qualifications

Plan and develop complex, specialized management activities to improve compliance and WIC quality assurance operations, client participation, nutrition education, breastfeeding promotion, social service referrals, immunizations, training, safety, and Quality Assurance protocols. Involves: preparing and monitoring annual goals to ensure efficiency and effectiveness. Provides daily support to clinics, assisting all areas of clinic operations, including the assignment of personnel. Prepare routine and special reports, and disseminate literature and information regarding program activities and objectives. Assess, monitor, implement, and evaluate program and service performance to determine compliance, efficiency, and effectiveness of nutrition education operations. 


Guide staff to ensure client services are provided with accuracy, empathy, courtesy, and in a convenient and timely manner. Involves: Investigating complaints and resolving client issues related to customer service and/or dietary/nutrition services. Develop and implement program policies and procedures. Ensure that assigned staff have adequate supplies and equipment to accomplish assigned tasks. Plan and implement all contractual requirements from service delivery objectives, including administration of the annual budget. Provides consultation and technical assistance related to nutrition to other agencies and institutional programs.  Plans and coordinates studies and research in the area of nutrition and cooperates with other research efforts to increase understanding, information, and trend analysis in nutrition. 


Coordinates and supervises the activities of staff involved in nutrition programs. Involves: scheduling, assigning, instructing, guiding, and checking work. Appraise employee performance. Provides for training and development. Enforce personnel rules and regulations and work behavior standards firmly and impartially. Counsel, motivate, and maintain harmony. Interview applicants and recommend hiring, termination, transfers, discipline, or other employee status changes. Direct the development and evaluation of training sessions to upgrade the nutrition knowledge of customers, staff, and health care providers
