Warehouse Worker - Temporary

This is  a non-merit, temporary position.  Positions in this class are exempt from the screening and referral requirements of the Iowa Department of Administrative Services - Human Resources Enterprise.


The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Division of State-Operated Specialty Care, Bureau of Woodward Resource Center (WRC) is seeking a Temporary Warehouse Worker to join our team! This is a Temporary position limited to 780 hours per fiscal year (July 1 - June 30).


What You'll Do

As a temporary Warehouse Worker at WRC, you'll play a crucial role in our mission by receiving food and supplies into the Central Distribution Center, storing and managing inventory, and assembling orders for delivery. 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Fill and assemble orders for 16 State of Iowa facilities from the Department of Corrections, Department of Human Services, the Iowa Veterans' Home, as well as county organizations. Utilize warehouse equipment to complete work including pallet jacks and forklifts. Load orders onto delivery trucks.
  • Receive and manage stock at the Central Distribution Center. Check merchandise received to ensure accuracy and that CDC standards are met. Monitor condition of deliveries, checking for damaged goods. Date and rotate stock to ensure oldest product is issued first.
  • Monitor freezer and cooler temperatures, filling out daily logs. Follow security guidelines to ensure no unauthorized removal of goods.
  • Maintain clean and tidy warehouses and grounds. Monitor for pest infestations. Complete assigned cleaning, utilizing power equipment as well as brooms and mops.
  • Perform other duties as assigned. This includes, but is not limited to, monitoring condition of warehouse equipment, assisting co-workers, transport and delivery of products to customers, and completing assigned training.
