Storekeeper 2 - Food Service Dept.

The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Division of State-Operated Specialty Care, Bureau of Woodward Resource Center (WRC) is seeking a Storekeeper 2 to join our team! 

As a Storekeeper 2, you'll play a pivotal role in our Nutrition and Supply Services Department. If you’re passionate about making a difference and ready to take on a rewarding position, this could be the perfect job for you!

What you’ll do

As part of the WRC team, you'll play a crucial role in our mission by providing essential food service support to individuals at our facility.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Prepare and place orders for food, supplements, supplies, and chemicals from external and internal vendors and suppliers. Determine projected needs and maintain purchasing records. Utilize State of Iowa contracts and procedures.
  • Receive incoming orders, verifying delivered items compared to ordering documents. Inspect deliveries for quality
  • Process invoices and enter into software for department recordkeeping and financial reports.
  • Take weekly count of on-hand items and participate in semi-annual physical inventory. Store and manage inventory in two locations. Date and rotate stock ensuring oldest product is utilized first.
  • Perform lead worker duties, overseeing work performed, training, assisting, and informing supervisor of status and issues. Complete department opening and closing assignments.
  • Participate in department planning meetings, including weekly menu meeting and semi-annual menu planning for seasonal revisions. Consult daily with Supervisors, Cook 2, and Therapeutic Technician on food availability and menu updates.

Key Competencies

Successful candidates for this position will demonstrate the following competencies:

  • Independently assess workload, perform mathematical calculations, and place and maintain accurate and timely orders.  
  • Repeatedly lift, push, or pull heavy objects in heat, cold, or humid environment while bending and/or working above shoulders.

Qualifications

Experience equal to two years of full-time clerical, inventory, stores, supply, warehousing or other job related work;
OR

employees with current continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes experience equal to twelve months of full-time work as a Storekeeper 1.
