Project/Program Manager II - Tuberculosis Program


This Project/Program Manager II (PPMII) position oversees outreach to individuals who were diagnosed with Tuberculosis (TB) infection during immigrations exams, develops communication strategies to both community members and providers about TB infection, leads engagement with provider organizations, and supports other team activities such as community events and responding to calls/emails about TB infection.

The mission of the Tuberculosis Program is to prevent the spread of TB in King County with a vision of a TB free King County. It provides clinical services to individuals diagnosed with or suspected of active TB and those recently exposed to TB. The Community TB Prevention unit focuses on increasing TB testing and treatment by working with communities at higher risk of TB infection and the primary care providers who serve them.

Requirements

  • Conduct outreach with healthcare providers and their organizations related to TB education and guidance
  • Coordinating with healthcare partners, pharmacies, and other organizations to streamline TB services
    Overseeing and responding to latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI) related questions and triaging to the appropriate person when necessary (i.e. nurse, epidemiologist, etc.)
  • Contributing to grant writing to fund initiatives to reduce barriers to testing, treating, and reporting of LTBI
  • Responding to inquiries, facilitating meetings, and conducting presentations to inform partners of TB updates
  • Coordinating with internal programs, teams, and task forces focused on engagement with providers who serve communities at higher risk for TB
    Engaging with internal and external partners about LTBI reporting
  • Supporting the development of messaging and communication to reach communities at higher risk of TB
  • Facilitating and building capacity of stakeholders to share information about TB
  • Researching and conducting outreach to inform innovative ways to provide TB services and engage communities
  • Managing texting outreach and conducting evaluations to assess treatment initiation and completion
  • Assist with budget monitoring and development
  • Perform data analysis independently or as assigned
  • Produce monthly/quarterly work program reports
  • Write reports or issue papers summarizing analysis or research
  • Serve on inter-jurisdictional committees and/ or coalitions
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required:
  • Experience with project management for a medical or public health project or related
  • Eperience coordinating with external partners and stakeholders, such as healthcare providers, medical associations, or community-based organizations
  • Demonstrated ability to provide consultation and technical assistance to providers and community partners
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and carry out assignments and responsibilities reliably in a thorough, accurate, and timely manner
  • Demonstrated ability to clearly and effectively communicate orally and in writing with supervisor, co-workers, partners, and stakeholders
  • Experience creating and delivering public health messaging to a variety of audiences.
  • Demonstrated experience and ability in building internal and external partnerships with providers and community organizations
  • Experience and skill in working with diverse populations and cultures, and supporting anti-racist principles of equity and social justice
  • Experience using process metrics to inform the success of the program and make adaptations as needed
  • Good judgement and comfort in making independent decisions, while understanding limitations and elevating as needed in the absence of information
  • Effectively manage multiple competing priorities and projects under a rapidly changing environment, with the ability to plan and prioritize effectively in this environment
  • Experience with office automation (MS Office 365), other web-enabled tools, and multiple large databases. 
  • Candidates must be proficient and comfortable with computer use to perform essential functions of the position
Desired:
  • Experience with or knowledge of latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI), particularly how to communicate orally and in writing about it to a variety of audiences.
  • Knowledge of barriers to LTBI care and experience addressing those barriers.
  • Background in public health, health education, health services, or related field
  • Experience in a local or state public health setting
  • Two (2) or more year of TB experience
  • Knowledge of project management principles
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and comprehend new and complex bodies of knowledge efficiently
  • Skill in working effectively as a team member to coordinate accomplishment of specific tasks

Work Schedule

This position is Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm with occasional evenings and weekends. This position is non-exempt and eligible for overtime. 

Work Location

This position is based out of Harborview Medical Center, 325 9th Ave, Seattle, WA 98104.

Employees must reside in Washington state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements. 

Remote and Onsite Work

The TB team works in a hybrid model, with 2-3 days in the office as well as telecommuting. The ratio of remote to onsite work will be dependent on business needs and is subject to change. 

King County has a robust collection of tools and resources to support working remotely. The individual selected for this opportunity will join an innovative and progressive team that is redefining how we work as we transition to the department's hybrid environment. Employees will be provided with a County-issued laptop and must maintain a home workspace with an internet connection where they can reliably perform work and remain available and responsive during scheduled work hours.
