Professional Development Director

This is team lead training work involving the coordination, implementation, and oversight of training and professional development activities within an agency or institutional setting. The incumbent provides direction and guidance to training staff, coordinates training programs and instructional activities, monitors compliance with required training standards, maintains training records and reports, and assists with the development and delivery of staff development initiatives.

Work includes coordinating professional development operations, ensuring training requirements are met, supporting employee development, and communicating with agency leadership, supervisors, employees, and outside stakeholders regarding training needs, compliance, and program effectiveness.

Requirements

Examples of work include coordinating and monitoring agency training programs; supervising and guiding professional development staff; assisting with curriculum development and instructional planning; coordinating new hire orientation and required employee training; maintaining training compliance systems, records, and reports; tracking licensure, certification, and continuing education requirements; administering or supporting online learning systems; preparing training schedules, materials, reports, and documentation; communicating with supervisors, employees, leadership, committees, and outside stakeholders regarding training needs and compliance requirements; assisting with policy and procedure development related to staff development; evaluating training effectiveness; coordinating special projects or training initiatives; and performing related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree and 5-7 years of relevant experience.
Essential functions include coordinating and overseeing professional development and training operations; supervising, guiding, and assigning work to training staff; planning, coordinating, and monitoring staff training programs; maintaining training records, reports, and compliance documentation; coordinating new hire orientation, required training, staff development activities, and online learning administration; monitoring licensure, certification, and continuing education support processes; communicating with leadership, supervisors, employees, committees, and external stakeholders; developing or assisting with training-related policies, procedures, schedules, and instructional materials; evaluating training needs and program effectiveness; ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance in training operations; and performing related duties as assigned.
