Prepare, maintain and verify customer electronic medical records, prepare, and label medicines, place drug/vaccine orders,  fulfill general administrative/clerical duties, monitor pharmacy inventories and supplies, conduct medication pickups, initiate adherence and/or medication counseling, monitor drug manufacturer recalls, remove outdated medications via reverse distributor, assist with emergency preparedness and transport medications.  All Coastal Health District County Health Department employees are deemed essential employees in the event of an emergency. As such, you may be called on to participate in an event not limited to but including, staffing a shelter, a Specimen Point of Collection Site (SPOC) and/or Point of Dispensing site (POD). When you are called on to participate, you are expected and it will be a part of your job requirement to participate, whether the emergency occurs during or outside regular work hours.

Requirements


  1. Communicate with the Pharmacy Supervisor to ensure compliance with deliverables.

  1. Maintain current medication reference materials for central District pharmacy and for county health departments.
 
  1. Receive, manage, and maintain drug deliveries, drug storage, all other inventory and record keeping for District Pharmacy as outlined in CHD Central Pharmacy S.O.P.
 
  1. Manage the disposition of outdated, deteriorated, returned, and recalled drugs as outlined in the CHD Central Pharmacy S.O.P.
 
  1. Coordinate receipt, review and submission of drug inventory to the State Office of Pharmacy.
 
  1. Ensure proper procurement, storage, record keeping, labeling and handling of drugs and/or devices by authorized agents or employees of the County Boards of Health.
 
  1. Maintain and update the district pharmacy order sheet which includes medications, supplies (i.e. dental dams), condoms and vaccines with pricing.
 
  1. Order district medications, vaccines and supplies from the necessary vendors. Will maintain invoices and any related correspondence. Will provide tracking of pharmacy orders/vaccines to the county nurses as needed or upon request.

9.    Review all supply/vaccine contracts as needed.
 
  1. Receive and transfer inventory in VHN and GRITS.
 
  1. Review and notify billing and program managers when prices of medications, supplies, and vaccines change at least quarterly or if pricing exceeds established threshold.
 
  1. Review and make dummy files in M&M for new medications as needed.
 
  1. Ensure that all medication orders are reviewed and shipped each week and use the corresponding transactions to update the monthly Cheetah Report for Purchasing.
 
  1. Assist clinics with vaccine returns and update the district return S.O.P. as needed.
 
  1. Field questions/calls from health department clinics regarding drug information, side effects, and drug interactions.
 
  1. Work with clinics to facilitate vaccine transport as needed.
 
 17.  Work with the Lab Manager to monitor District Pharmacy temperatures and maintain temperature logs. Will access Dickson One (as needed) and receive alerts. Will work with the County Nurse Manager to record any District Pharmacy incidents on the Occurrence Report form and submit accordingly to the Immunization Coordinator.
 
  1. Review clinic inventory and district inventory and complete necessary state reporting.
  2. Assist the clinic as needed when not performing pharmacy duties.


Qualifications

Vocational/Technical degree in licensed practical nursing from an accredited college AND Four years of LPN public health experience AND current Georgia license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse AND CPR certificationFor more information on the State of Georgia Benefits visit http://team.georgia.gov/
