Specific Responsibilities:

• Complies with the mandatory requirements in Section 215.422 F.S. and Chapter 3A-24 Florida Administrative Code regarding prompt payment process of special formula.
• Provides nutritional care, management and education for maternal and child health clients. Assesses nutritional status.
• Review medical records, determine nutritional care needs and perform WIC Program certifications.
• Provides individual nutritional counseling and group nutrition education for the WIC client population. Provides and coordinates nutritional care for maternity and pediatric clients who are at high nutritional risk according to the WIC Program and other criteria.
• Evaluates effectiveness of nutrition services and care.
• Participates in quality assurance programs to develop and ensure use of appropriate standards of nutritional care.
• Works with physicians and other health care professionals to ensure comprehensive nutritional care is provided for clients.
• Covers nutrition clinic services as a staff relief worker in other agency health centers.
• Provides nutrition education and develops referral mechanisms for community groups and agencies whose clients are also served in the health center.
• Incorporates WIC Program services into community outreach services.
• Designs, prepares and assembles audio and visual teaching aids.  
• Coordinates client nutrition education with other health center staff.
• Maintain records, client data and prepare reports.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Skill in basic counseling techniques
• Ability to learn and use Microsoft Windows based computer software programs inducing PowerPoint, internet, email and equipment or specific program software such as FL WSE and HMS.
• Ability to organize and present information, verbally and in writing, in a concise, comprehensive and legible manner
• Ability to provide high level customer service to internal or external customers
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and professional interactions with co-workers, supervisors, and others.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Dietetics / Nutrition or a directly nutrition related degree.

Other job-related requirements for this position:

• Incumbent may be required to work before, during and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency. Emergency duty required of the incumbent includes working in special needs shelters, or performing other emergency duties including, but not limited to, responses to or threats involving any disaster or threat of disaster, man-made or natural.
• Expected to work weekends, early morning hours and extended hours.
• Lifting and /or move objects up to 25lbs occasionally.
• Travel throughout Palm Beach County is required.
• This position is a full-time, in-office position.
