The mission of Pinecrest Supports and Services Center is to support people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to reach treatment goals and to return to more integrated community living settings. Pinecrest Supports and Services Center specializes in the treatment of people with comorbid intellectual and developmental disabilities and complex medical, behavioral, and psychiatric support needs.

We are seeking a dedicated, hardworking individual as an Operating Engineer 1-2 to assist in the daily operation of the duties of the Area Maintenance Department on the Closed Facilities grounds.

Requirements

One year of experience or training in the operation or maintenance of large stationary engines or mechanical equipment.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:
For those positions in which incumbents will be working with and handling refrigerants, possession of an appropriate EPA refrigerant recycling and recovery certification for technicians will be required (as required under Section 608 of the Clean Air Act, 1990).

  • Fire, operate, regulate, monitor, and provide skilled mechanical services for a high pressure steam and auxiliary equipment plant.  
  • Repair boilers and performs preventive Maintenance on all boilers, primary and secondary auxiliaries.  
  • Performs repairs and alterations to pumps, air condition units, air handling units, pneumatic electronic controls in all equipment rooms.   
  • Responsible for general maintenance, cleaning and upkeep of equipment rooms. 
  • Maintain and conduct minor repairs for steam generator condenser units and expression tanks for plant and water tower operation. 
  • General Repairs:  Trouble shoot all general lighting and other related devices.  Change light switches, reset breakers and maintain fans and ventilation equipment on grounds.
  • Plumbing:  Repair and install commodes, repair leaks, and replace / repair faucets.
  • Maintain lawn services for the graveyard and main campus.  
  • Maintain / Fix road for the campus and other general items around the campus.  Fix and maintain multiple types of heavy and light equipment.  Responsible for debris cleanup and removing small items left on grounds by outside contractors and following special projects.
  • Performs any and all additional duties assigned by supervisor which are necessary for the proper running and maintenance of the Boiler house Power Plant, Portable Water Facility and the Sewage Treatment Plant.  May be required to travel to other LDH facility campuses to provide maintenance services.

Work Schedule: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM Tuesday - Friday PASS DAYS: Saturday / Sunday / Monday
Appointment Type: This position may be filled by probation, promotion, demotion, lateral transfer, detail to special duty, or job appointment. Preference may be given to employees of Pinecrest Supports and Services Center.

Compensation

Operating Engineer 1: $ 18.38 Hourly - $33.08 Hourly

Operating Engineer 2: $ 19.67 Hourly - $35.40 Hourly
