Nutritionist or Health Educator - part-time (remote opportunity)

As a Part time Remote Nutritionist / Registered Dietitian within East Central Public Health District, you will join a dedicated group of public health professionals that help support the overall mission and vision of protecting lives of Georgian residents in a variety of ways.

This position is 100% remote for up to 29 hours/week. 
 


 

Requirements

This position will provide nutrition services to clients in the WIC Program as assigned. Nutritionist will complete nutrition screening, assessment, and education for a minimum of 2 clients per hour working up to 29 hours a week during the hours 9AM and 8PM, Monday through Sunday. This position require up to 5 days of orientation and training at The Laney Walker health department in Augusta, GA. Computer, cell phone will be provided.  This position is 100% Remote Part-Time, Hourly.  

Qualifications

*Must have reliable internet service. 
*At least one year of WIC experience preferred.  

Nutritionist/Dietitian: Bachelor's degree in dietetics, human nutrition, foods and nutrition, nutrition education, food systems management, or a closely related field from an accredited college or university AND verification statement of completion of a didactic program accredited by The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.    

Health Educator: Master’s degree in public health education from an accredited college or university OR Bachelor’s degree in education, social, behavioral, or biological sciences or a directly related field from an accredited college or university.  

NOTE: According to Georgia Public Health WIC Program Guidelines, candidates without a verification statement, who can comply with the following requirements, may be eligible for consideration in this position: *Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a nutrition field from an ACEND accredited Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD) but did not earn a verification statement. A letter from the DPD program director stating the individual successfully completed the program but did not earn a verification statement can serve as coursework verification OR Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Nutritional Sciences, Community Nutrition, Clinical Nutrition, Dietetics, or Public Health Nutrition from an accredited college or university that meets specific coursework criteria. Criteria can be reviewed and verified using Non-DPD required coursework reference.  The use of wellness breaks during the workday is authorized to support this philosophy and assist employees in meeting their wellness goals.  A maximum of 30 minutes in a given workday may be used to engage in wellness activities, generally in the form of two 15-minute breaks or one 30-minute break.

DPH accepts educational credential recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and/or the US Department of Education (DOE) will be considered. DPH will contact educational institutions to verify degree, diploma, licensure, etc.
