Medicaid Program Supervisor


The mission of the Louisiana Department of Health is to protect and promote health and to ensure access to medical, preventive, and rehabilitative services for all residents of the State of Louisiana.

Make an impact behind the scenes of Medicaid! This role plays a critical part in ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant communication for beneficiaries, providers, and stakeholders. You’ll monitor high-priority inquiries, support quality assurance, train staff, and help keep essential Medicaid operations running smoothly. Requirements

Six years of experience in developing, managing, or evaluating health or social service programs; or in public health, public relations, social services, health services, health regulation, or administrative services; OR

Six years of full-time work experience in any field plus three years of experience in developing, managing, or evaluating health or social service programs; or in public health, public relations, social services, health services, health regulation, or administrative services; OR

A bachelor’s degree plus three years of experience in developing, managing, or evaluating health or social service programs; or in public health, public relations, social services, health services, health regulation, or administrative services; OR

An advanced degree or a Juris Doctorate plus two years of experience in developing, managing, or evaluating health or social service programs; or in public health, public relations, social services, health services, health regulation, or administrative services.

EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

  • Monitors Medicaid program inboxes to identify and prioritize high-volume, high-priority, and time-sensitive communications.
  • Reviews and routes beneficiary, provider, and stakeholder inquiries to the appropriate staff or program areas for timely resolution.
  • Ensures outgoing email communications comply with Medicaid policies, program requirements, and applicable state and federal regulations.
  • Conducts quality-assurance reviews of email communications and takes corrective action to address errors and prevent potential compliance issues.
  • Provides guidance and training to staff on Medicaid email protocols, documentation requirements, and professional communication procedures.
  • Coordinates email coverage during peak workload periods, staff leave, and emergencies to maintain timely and consistent service delivery.
  • Monitors communication workflows and identifies issues or delays, recommending improvements to support efficient operations and continuity of Medicaid services.
