Why does the job exist?

 
Is responsible for direction and oversight of all aspects of fiscal management, budget management, accounting, purchasing, warehousing, billing/collections, patient trust and all forms of financial reporting and analysis for the facility.

How does it get done?

 
Provides daily supervision to staff in assigned areas of responsibility.
Plans, develops, and organizes the work of staff.
Ensures deadlines are met.

Who are the customers?

 
Residents, Resident Representatives, Staff and Community Members of Fort Bayard Medical Center.

Ideal Candidate

 
Will have:
The ability to demonstrate a broad knowledge base with effective communications skills in business operations specific to long term and skilled nursing care. 
The ability to ensure that processes are in place for financial activity to be recorded accurately.
Will have extensive experience in revenue cycle management related to medical billing, and the ability to lead and mentor staff on a daily basis. 
The ability to seek out new regulations and incorporate those changes into the daily operations of the areas of responsibility.

Minimum Qualification

 
Bachelor's degree in business administration, Accounting, Finance, or Auditing and three (3) years of experience in Accounting, Business Administration, Public Administration, Finance, or Auditing; to include one (1) year of managerial or supervisory experience.  Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling seven (7) years may substitute for the required education and experience. A hiring agency may designate a portion of the required experience to include federal grant and/or special revenue experience to be identified at the time of recruitment.

Employment Requirements

 
Will be screened for tuberculosis (TB) upon hire.  Employment is subject to nationwide criminal background check pursuant to New Mexico Caregivers Criminal Screening Act (Sections 29-17-2 through 29-17-5 NMSA 1978 and 7.1.9.1 through 7.1.9.11 NMAC) and is conditional pending results. Employment is subject to pre-employment and random testing in accordance with all terms and conditions of federal and state law, rules and regulations in relation to alcohol and/or drug testing.  Successful completion of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability (HIPPA) training.

Moves intermittently during working hours.

Is involved with residents, family members, and personnel.
Is subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents, family members and personnel.
Works beyond normal working hours and on weekends and holidays when necessary.
Communicates with the medical staff, nursing personnel, and other department directors.

Is subject to call back during emergency conditions (e.g., severe weather, evacuation, post-disaster, etc.).
Is subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc.

State of New Mexico employees may be impacted by the Public Health Order dated December 19, 2022, which requires facilities licensed or certified by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), including all hospital types, long-term care facilities, nursing homes, hospice facilities and rehabilitation facilities, as well as assisted living facilities and adult day care settings, to adhere to all COVID related requirements prescribed by CMS, including, but not limited to masking and staff vaccination.

Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a minimum height of 5 feet and be able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet.
