This is a promotional opportunity open only to current permanent employees in a classified position with Louisiana Department of Health, Office of the Secretary. 

Looking for an opportunity to utilize your exceptional skills, challenge yourself, and make a high impact in the workplace? Join our team and play a vital role in supporting the daily operations of the Disability Determinations Services (DDS). In this position you’ll serve as lead information technology staff and project leader, ensuring proper monitoring and maintenance of various system servers, troubleshooting and determining analyses of technological issues, and providing software assistance to users. In this role, you’ll work in coordination with Human Resources and DDS Management to facilitate employee onboarding processes and function as an SSA security officer. Requirements

Six years of experience in information technology; OR

Six years of full-time work experience in any field plus four years of experience in information technology; OR

An associate's degree in information technology plus four years of experience in information technology; OR

A bachelor’s degree plus four years of experience in information technology; OR

A bachelor’s degree with twenty-four semester hours in an information technology, computer science, engineering, mathematics, or business analytics field plus three years of experience in information technology; OR

A master’s degree plus three years of experience in information technology.

EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

NOTE:
A certification in an approved area may be substituted for the education and/or experience requirements at the time of hire or promotion, provided the appointment is made from a Certificate of Eligibles.

Job Duties:

  • Monitor and provide support with various system servers, printers, and hardware
  • Install and utilize system tools as they become available for tracking and support of system activity
  • Coordinate and communicate with SSA, LDH, and HP support as needed
  • Set up and configure all DDS equipment and networks
  • Provide troubleshooting of hardware problems and provide analysis of findings to management
  • Initiate and coordinate replacement of obsolete equipment and disposal of network components
  • Design and support of special database, spreadsheets, and templates as needed
  • Maintain a current inventory database of all equipment, users, and network cabling
  • Participate as a leader within local and state System User Groups
  • Work with office managers to prepare for federal and state audits
  • Complete oversight of new hire, termination, and user change IT activities by ensuring all equipment and clearances are received, and all steps have been taken
  • Attend SSA meetings and monitor infrastructure alerts for information that could impact system users
