The Health Information Coordinator 1 plays a vital role for the Louisiana Department of Health in the Behavioral Health community by utilizing CLSH’s values and mission to deliver quality and effective care to our patients. The hospital is highly committed to cooperative work with other state agencies and with the state and regional mental health program to insure the integration and coordination of hospital-community services into a comprehensive system of mental health care.

Central Louisiana State Hospital located in Pineville, Louisiana is seeking applicants for a vacant position in our Health Information Department as a Health InformationCoordinator 1 who collects, prepares, maintains, stores, and processes patient information and data.

Requirements

One year of experience in administrative services; OR

One year of training in or completion of a business or clerical-related curriculum from a business school or technical institute.

EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the required general experience.

Job Duties:

  • Maintains patient medical records and keeps records organized to be accessible by multidisciplinary teams and appropriate staff.   

  • Keeps documentation in designated order inside of the patient’s charts on the staffed units.  

  • Maintains an adequate quantity of Licensed Independent Practitioner (LIP) Progress Notes and LIP Charge Ticket forms on each unit.  

  • Assists the units with anything related to medical record forms or the improvement of patient charts.

  • Assists in performing discharge analysis of patient's records to ensure documents are completed within the approved Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and The Joint Commission (TJC) time frames for adequate and appropriate patient care and treatment and for the Director to enter medical diagnosis coding and billing in PIP. 


Position-Specific Details:

Appointment Type: Promotion or Demotion.  Must be a current full-time permanent employee of CLSH.

Compensation: This position has a Minimum Hire Rate of $15.30 hourly ($1224.00 bi-weekly) 

Schedule:  M-F; 8:00 am – 4:30 pm
