Protect program integrity and help ensure SNAP benefits reach eligible households! As a Fraud Investigator, you’ll investigate allegations of fraud, waste, and abuse, analyze case information, conduct interviews and field visits, and help recover ineligible payments. Your work will promote accountability, strengthen public trust, and support compliance with state and federal SNAP requirements. Requirements

Four years of experience in social services; OR

Six years of full-time work experience in any field plus one year of experience in social services; OR

A bachelor's degree plus one year of experience in social services; OR

A bachelor’s degree in social work or a master's degree in a social services field or education.

EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Job Duties:

  • Receives and reviews allegations of potential SNAP fraud, trafficking, misuse, waste, or abuse. 
  • Conducts investigations to determine whether SNAP benefits were improperly issued or overpaid. 
  • Gathers, verifies, and analyzes employment, household, financial, and other relevant information to identify potential program violations. 
  • Conducts interviews, field visits, and other investigative activities with SNAP participants, employers, and community members. 
  • Prepares and processes administrative claims or criminal referrals based on investigation findings. 
  • Appears in court and provides testimony or investigative documentation as required. 
  • Documents investigation findings and identifies trends or issues to support program integrity, recover ineligible payments, and prevent future SNAP fraud.

Compensation: This position is eligible for the following Special Entrance Rates (SER), as well as a Premium Pay of up to $2.00/hr for hours worked based on longevity. 

Fraud Investigator 1 - $21.27 hr / $1,701.60 bi-weekly
Fraud Investigator 2 - $22.76 hr / $1,820.80 bi-weekly
