Electronic Technician Advanced

Division: Within the Telecommunications Department at ELMHS, Located in Jackson, LA 

The Mission of ELMHS is to provide mental health evaluation, treatment, habilitation, and consultation for adults. Programs include inpatient interventions, jail-based evaluations, supervised group home and residential programs, forensic evaluation, care, custody, and aftercare; intermediate and long-term psychiatric services are coordinated with the total system of care in Louisiana 

ELMHS is looking for a motivated, detail-oriented, and positive individual to join our team as an Electronic Technician Advanced! The selected candidate for this role will provide advanced electronic technology support by supervising and guiding lower-level technicians, interpreting complex schematics, diagnosing and repairing CCTV and electronic systems, performing installations and upgrades, coordinating system expansions, obtaining repair estimates, and serving as a liaison for telecommunications and network-related services.

Requirements

Three years of experience or training in the maintenance or repair of mechanical or electronic office equipment, precision machinery, or electronic/electrical systems; OR

Three years of experience or training in the installation, repair, or maintenance of computer equipment or systems (hardware and/or software); OR

Possession of a CompTIA A+ Certification plus one of the following:

1. Two years of experience in the maintenance or repair of mechanical or electronic office equipment, precision machinery, or electronic/electrical systems; OR
2. Two years of experience in the installation, repair, or maintenance of computer equipment or systems (hardware and/or software).

EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every six semester hours earned from an accredited college or university in electronics or computer science will substitute for one year of the required experience.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must possess an appropriate Federal Communications Commission (FCC) radio-telephone license when working with marine and aviation transmitting equipment or with radar.

Job Duties:

In this role, you will:

  • Review work of and provide guidance to lower-level Electronic Technicians on a project basis.
  • Read and interpret the most complex electric and electronic schematics and mechanical layouts during diagnosis and repair of complex electronic equipment.
  • Read and interpret electric and electronic schematics and mechanical layouts during the installation and maintenance of the CCTV viewing platform and verify proper operation.  
  • Recommend and conduct system and platform expansion by the installation of updates and programs, addition of components, and all associated peripheral items associated such as new cable, cable terminations, and electrical conduit as necessary.
  • Conduct diagnostic testing, repair, or obtain cost estimates for installation and/or repair of all CCTV equipment.  
  • Coordinate through Behavioral Hospital Associate Administrator 3 with the Office of Telecommunication Services as the primary liaison for computer and network services, the CCTV Safety Surveillance System, and all related activities
