Requirements

Purpose of the Position Under general supervision, promotes, maintains, and improves individual and community health by assisting individuals and communities to adopt healthy behaviors and preventing the spread of HIV. Collect and analyze data to identify community needs prior to planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating programs designed to encourage healthy lifestyles, policies, and environments. Performs HIV testing, counseling, outreach, and linkage to care for high-risk residents in the community. Ensures implementation of timely disease intervention strategies to decrease the prevalence of HIV and STDs. Other duties as assigned. This is a grant-funded position under HIV Prevention. This position works to promote and protect the health and safety of the residents of Cobb and Douglas Counties.

Essential Functions (include but are not limited to)
·Assesses community health needs to focus HIV Prevention efforts on target populations
·Provides community outreach activities to relevant communities with a focus on mem who have sex with men, transgender women, and people of color communities
·Provides educational programs and participates in community health fairs to enhance public understanding of HIV/AIDS and biomedical prevention tools

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in education, social, behavioral, or biological sciences or a directly related field from an accredited college or university and one (1) year of experience in public health education or one (1) year of experience at the lower level Hlth Educator 1 (HCP030) or position equivalent.

Preferred Job-Related SkillsExperience with HIV prevention activities, HIV Counseling & Testing certification, HIV and STD surveillance activities. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.   
 
Work Conditions & Physical Demands This position does require some physical exertion. May require some lifting, but no more than 50 lbs. Not always a sedentary position; will require some walking and long periods of standing. Requires flexibility of working in general office environment, clinic environment, and community outreach. Will require working directly with blood-borne pathogens.

Remote WorkEmployees authorized for remote/hybrid work must reside and perform their job duties exclusively within the state of Georgia. Remote/hybrid work arrangements outside the state are not permitted under current policy.

Salary Information $46,632.33 Annually | Pay Grade I
