Doula Supervisor

The Healthy Start Program provides support to families with the goal of decreasing infant and maternal mortality. The Doula Supervisor oversees all aspects of the Healthy Start Doula Program, including recruitment, hiring, training, supervision, data management, and report writing. Staff supervised in this role provide doula services to clients by supporting families during pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period through education, referrals, resource coordination, and the implementation of services in accordance with program requirements.

We Require

  • Three years of professional-level doula experience, including one year supervising other doulas

  • Master’s Degree in Public Health, Health Education, Education, Communications, or a related field

  • Must possess a current active doula certification

  • A combination of post-secondary education and/or job-related experience may substitute for the required education and experience on a year-for-year basis

  • Childbirth Educator Certification from any accredited certifying agency

  • Current or past Doula Trainer experience

Job Contributions

  • Oversees the day-to-day supervision and performance management of all Healthy Start Doula Program staff, including Contracted Doulas (ACRO), Doula Coordinators, Doulas, Doula Educators, students, and volunteers

  • Assesses staff knowledge and skill levels and develops, coordinates, and facilitates training for new and current employees and community doulas

  • Oversees program operations and ensures high-quality service delivery to clients through staff support, case review, and direct oversight of doula services

  • Monitors program performance through data collection, analysis, and reporting to ensure compliance with program requirements and continuous quality improvement

  • Develops and implements strategic plans to address maternal and infant health outcomes and collaborates with community partners to support program goals

Working Conditions

  • Position is typically office or administrative work and is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions, but may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, vibrations, fumes, odors, dusts, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, workspace restrictions, intense noises, wetness, humidity, respiratory hazards, and noise and vibration, and travel

  • Valid Arizona driver’s license is required upon hire

  • Ability to exert 20 lbs. occasionally, 10 lbs. frequently, or negligible amounts constantly, and requires walking/standing to a significant degree

  • Must secure and maintain an Arizona Department of Public Safety Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card and complete a background check

  • Within one month of hire, all employees will be required to provide evidence of immunity or receive immunizations for vaccine-preventable illnesses for any position within the Maricopa County Department of Public Health; required immunizations include MMR (measles, mumps, rubella), Tdap (whooping cough and diphtheria), Varicella (chickenpox), and annual Influenza; some positions require a Hepatitis B vaccine and/or a Tuberculosis test
