Make a real impact on public health in your community as a Disease Intervention Specialist with the Regional STD/HIV Program. In this dynamic role, you’ll lead critical disease investigations, manage cases with precision and care, and play a key role in preventing the spread of HIV and other STDs. Requirements

Three years of experience in disease investigation and prevention activities; OR

Three years of experience in investigatory work, social services, nursing, or as a medical laboratory technician or assistant; OR

A bachelor's degree.

  • Conducts partner services interviews with individuals diagnosed or suspected of HIV/STDs to identify exposed partners and gather critical case information 
  • Identifies, locates, and refers partners, contacts, and at-risk individuals for medical evaluation, testing, treatment, and follow-up services 
  • Performs case management assessments to determine risk of disease transmission and initiates appropriate interventions to prevent further spread 
  • Collects, documents, and maintains confidential medical and case records, ensuring accuracy and compliance with reporting requirements and public health guidelines 
  • Collaborates with healthcare providers to promote recommended treatment protocols, appropriate laboratory testing, and timely disease reporting 
  • Educates patients and the community on prevention strategies, risk reduction, and behavior modification through outreach and presentations 
  • Communicates effectively with internal teams, healthcare partners, and stakeholders, while supporting maternal/congenital case reviews and ensuring continuity of care
  • Attends seminars, workshops, in-service trainings, and required meetings to maintain knowledge and support program operations 
  • Performs additional related duties and provides program assistance as assigned to support public health initiatives
