Dietitian (Vacancy)

Under the general direction of the Dietitian Supervisor, is responsible for performing professional dietetic work such as nutritional assessment, nutritional counseling, and breastfeeding counseling. Performs related duties as required.


Starting Pay Range
$30.11 to $33.46 per hour

This position is for a single vacancy that can be filled by either a Dietitian or a Dietetic Technician.
The separate Dietetic Technician posting is to also to fill this singular vacancy.

Requirements

(Any one position may not include all of the duties listed, nor do the examples cover all of the duties that may be performed.)
 

Counsels all program participants including those who are high-risk regarding appropriate nutritional intake in order to encourage compliance with nutritional recommendations;


Assesses, develops, implements, and evaluates nutritional care plans and provides for follow-up, including written reports;


Collects body measurements and perform blood testing utilizing a point of care device; 


Designs and implements assessment and evaluation tools to measure nutrition behavior;


Serves as the clinical lead to other team members working in a WIC clinic;


Prepares self-education modules and plans; organizes and conducts nutritional education programs, events and/or classes for WIC participants, food service personnel, community agency staff, or other groups upon request;


Revises information pamphlets/materials and keeps an inventory of supplies;


Studies, interprets, and utilizes current research and literature relating to nutritional care;


Completes reports and recommends changes to the program director;


Maintains records on nutrition contracts, client care, or program eligibility;


Serves as liaison between the program and assigned community service agencies and physicians;


Makes referrals to various health and human services agencies and programs; documents referrals;


Attends continuing education classes in order to maintain licensure;


Performs the duties of Dietetic Technician as necessary;


Serves as lactation consultant; counsels mothers on benefits and methods of breastfeeding;


May consult with physicians and other health care personnel to determine nutritional needs and diet restrictions of patients;

May supervise assigned staff;


May communicate with potential and enrolled program participants who have limited English language skills.


Qualifications

Possession of a valid State of Ohio Dietitian License or Limited Dietitian Permit with licensure within six (6) months of issuance.


Possession of a valid driver’s license.


Positions allocated to this classification may require conversational proficiency in a language or languages other than English.
