Come join our team! As a Customer Service Representative at the Jones County Health Department, you will join a dedicated group of public health professionals working to protect the health and well-being of communities across the state by supporting vital public health initiatives. This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact, a great schedule, and a healthy work-life balance, allowing you to grow your career while maintaining time for what matters most to you. This is a full-time, in-person position at the Jones County Health Department in Gray, Georgia, where you'll play an important role in serving the local community.

Requirements

Under direct supervision, works and communicates with the general public, internal customers and/or external customers to provide information and services targeted to meet customer expectations.


Primary Duties & Responsibilities


  • Answer phones promptly, schedule appointments efficiently, and contact clients to confirm upcoming visits.

  • Coordinate and manage client appointments while verifying demographics, eligibility, insurance coverage, and required documentation.

  • Maintain accurate, confidential client records using EHR and scheduling systems in compliance with HIPAA regulations.

  • Collect and process client fees, issue receipts, and maintain accurate financial records.

  • Support nursing and clinical staff by preparing paperwork and assisting with daily front desk operations.

  • Perform administrative and clerical duties including data entry, filing, scanning, and preparation of routine reports.

  • Provide exceptional customer service.

  • Serve as the Emergency Preparedness (EP) Coordinator, assisting with compliance and preparedness initiatives.

  • Prepare and maintain Board of Health (BOH) meeting agendas, minutes, and related documentation.

  • Coordinate inventory logistics, including tracking, ordering, receiving, and distribution of supplies.

  • Perform a variety of administrative and operational duties to support departmental functions.

  • Complete other duties and special projects as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

High school diploma/GED and one (1) year of experience communicating information in a customer service setting are required.

The DPH Commissioner and agency leaders encourage all employees to engage in regular wellness activities and to make lifestyle choices that promote health and well-being. 

The use of physical activity breaks during the workday is authorized to support this philosophy and help employees meet their wellness goals. A maximum of 30 minutes of physical activity may be allocated per workday, typically in the form of two 15-minute breaks or one 30-minute break.

Employment Information

State of Georgia employees are subject to the rules of the State Personnel Board regarding salary.

DPH accepts educational credentials recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and/or the US Department of Education (DOE) as valid. DPH will contact educational institutions to verify degrees, diplomas, licensures, and other relevant credentials.

The candidate selected for this position may be subject to pre-employment drug screening and a criminal background check.
