Under the general direction of the Alzheimer’s Disease Program (ADP) Manager, serves as the statewide coalition coordinator for the Alzheimer’s Disease Partnership and performs highly complex (senior-level) public health program planning, development, and implementation to support ADP priorities and strategic initiatives. Assists with grant applications, implementation, management, reporting, and evaluation activities. Assists with contract development and monitoring. Supports federal grant activities, including development of new and continuation applications, work plans, and required deliverables. Provides technical assistance to program staff, internal and external partners, and leadership on Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias (ADRD). Coordinates, supports, and facilitates the program’s statewide coalition and its workgroups to advance the Texas State Plan for Alzheimer’s Disease and CDC BOLD grant priorities, while maintaining relationships with federal, state, and local stakeholders. Collaborates extensively with internal and external partners to support shared goals and coordinated project implementation. Participates in strategic planning, quality improvement, program support, partnership development, stakeholder engagement, and development of reports, briefing documents, and formal communications. Works both independently and as part of a team, exercising initiative in carrying out responsibilities, managing multiple projects with competing deadlines, and ensuring timely completion of deliverables, while operating under limited supervision with moderate latitude for the use of independent judgment.
Essential Job Functions (EJFs):
(30%) Coordinates, supports, and facilitates the statewide Alzheimer’s disease coalition and workgroups to advance the Texas State Plan for Alzheimer’s Disease and implement CDC BOLD grant priorities. Plans and convenes coalition meetings, independently managing logistics, schedules, and materials and leading workgroup activities, including using Microsoft Teams and related platforms to schedule meetings, manage invitations, and facilitate virtual connection. Serves as the primary ADP liaison to the coalition and supports partnership development to expand membership. Develops quarterly coalition newsletter and coordinates education activities to support engagement. Tracks coalition activities, gathers partner feedback, and assists with updates to the Texas State Plan for Alzheimer’s Disease. Ensures coalition activities align with the State Plan, legislative mandates, and grant requirements and are completed timely, using strong organizational skills and independent judgment to manage multiple priorities.
(25%) Under the direction and guidance from the ADP Manager, supports federal grant activities, including development of new and continuation applications, work plans, and required deliverables. Tracks grant implementation progress and assist with preparation of progress reports and other required submissions. Participates in routine meetings with the CDC and engages in grant-related technical assistance calls and ongoing training opportunities. Remains current on public health best practices related to ADRD to inform program planning and activities and identify opportunities for improvement. Assists with contract development and monitoring. Assists with program evaluation and reporting activities, as needed, to support grant requirements and continuous quality improvement efforts.
(20%) Develops and disseminates program materials, newsletters, fact sheets, resources, reports, briefings, and other documents and ensures compliance with Section and Division policy. In collaboration with the ADP Manager, develops and reviews program and coalition materials, including creating PowerPoint presentations and other publications that align with DSHS brand guidelines using Microsoft Word templates and SharePoint to prepare and manage documents. Coordinates internal review process, including establishing timelines and incorporating feedback through multiple rounds of review. May conduct training and/or present at conferences or workshops and may present information to partners and stakeholders as requested.
(15%) Participates in external statewide, regional and/or local partnerships or coalitions to support the implementation of ADRD best practices on caregiver support, early detection and diagnosis, and care planning. Supports development and maintenance of inter- and intra-agency relationships to facilitate collaboration and information sharing across program areas, including participation in special projects as assigned. Attends the Texas Council on Alzheimer’s Disease, prepares program updates, talking points, and presentation materials as requested.
(5%) Ensures a high level of coordination and communication of ADRD-related activities within ADP, Section, and across DSHS and Health and Human Services programs related to aging and health promotion. Gathers and interprets information to identify best practices and provides recommendations to the ADP Manager.
(5%) Other duties as assigned include but not limited to actively participating and/or serving in a supporting role to meet the agency’s obligations for disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation. Such participation may require an alternate shift pattern assignment and/or location.

Initial Screening Criteria:
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university required, with degree relevant to public health or health education or related field preferred. At least two (2) years of experience in a field related to dementia, community preventative services, health promotion, or public health. Experience working with coalitions, grants, project management, and stakeholder or community engagement preferred.
