Why does the job exist?

 
This position will provide comprehensive healthcare to Turquoise Lodge Hospital patients. Responsibilities will include assisting, diagnosing, prescribing, and referrals where appropriate.

How does it get done?

 
Works in conjunction with medical staff and primary care team. Performs and documents comprehensive health histories and physical examination. Formulates diagnoses and identifies problems and health risk profiles on patients. Provides information and support to patients regarding disease process and treatment plan.

Who are the customers?

 
Adults who present with substance misuses and co-occurring disorders.

Ideal Candidate

 
Experience making medical and substance use diagnoses.
Experience taking medical histories and performing patient examinations.
Experience providing patient education regarding mental health and substance abuse.

Minimum Qualification

 
Licensed by the New Mexico Board of Nursing as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN), Certified Nurse Practitioner (CNP), Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS), or as a Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) by the New Mexico Department of Health.

Employment Requirements

 
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Pre-employment background investigation is required and is conditional pending results.  

Working Conditions

 
Incumbent will work in an acute care hospital and an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Lifting up to fifty (50) pounds may be required. Exposure to potentially violent patients in volatile situations requiring crisis interventions may be required. Some travel with the occasional overnight stay may be required.
