Requirements

Two years of experience in administrative services.

EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 15 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as six months of experience.

  • Processes, reviews, records, and issues marriage licenses while ensuring compliance with Louisiana Vital Records laws, regulations, and agency policies. 
  • Provides exceptional customer service by responding to inquiries from the public and professional partners, explaining vital records services, fees, and legal requirements. 
  • Serves as a liaison with Clerks of Court, judges, clergy, officiants, funeral homes, hospitals, and other stakeholders by providing technical guidance on marriage and vital records registration. 
  • Reviews and processes paper and electronic vital event records, verifies document accuracy and completeness, resolves discrepancies, and maintains accurate records in the LEERS system. 
  • Assists customers requesting vital records by verifying eligibility, reviewing applications, processing requests, and safeguarding confidential records in accordance with state law. 
  • Maintains administrative and operational support by reconciling bank notes, managing records retention, preparing production reports, supporting inventory activities, and assisting with mail processing. 
  • Participates in staff meetings, completes required training, supports departmental projects, and performs additional duties as needed to ensure efficient and effective operations.
