As an Administrative Assistant within the NGHD at the Georgia Department of Public Healthyou will join a dedicated group of public health professionals that help support the overall mission and vision of protecting lives of Georgian residents in a variety of ways.

Requirements

  • Performs a variety of clerical functions/processes for the Children with Special Needs Department
  • Works with the public, internal and/or external customers to provide information and services targeted to meet the needs of the Children's Medical Services patients
  • Responsible for processing C1st and CMS billing ; Must be detail-oriented, able to work efficiently and independently; Must be a self starter and organized
  • Provides quality customer service to all customers
  • Serves as liaison between the program/administrative/technical operations and clients
  • Determines the nature of client's business and provides appropriate information and assistance. Refers to appropriate personnel when necessary
  • Responsible for processing enrollments, annual updates and daily/monthly duties
  • Conducts comprehensive clerical research using a variety of resources to generate reports and respond to requests
  • Enters data from forms, records and/or reports using a computer. Codes information as appropriate; Prepares memos, correspondence, forms and other documents.
  • Follows security procedures over all Children's Programs documents and equipment as set forth by the NGHD Policies and Procedures.
  • Retrieves, screens, opens and distributes incoming mail; Prepares for delivery and sends outgoing documents and other materials; Copies and distributes documents and other materials
  • Maintains filing and record keeping systems

Qualifications

High school diploma/GED and two (2) years of job-related experience.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Public health experience
  • Child health experience
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Bilingual English/Spanish
  • Knowledge of computer systems
  • Data entry
  • At least one year medical office experience providing face to face customer service (within last 3 years)
  • At least one year experience utilizing the Electronic Medical record system (EMR)
  • Ability to manage multiple duties simultaneously 

Current State employees are subject to State Personnel Board rules regarding salary.


CBH accepts educational credential recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and/or the US Department of Education (DOE) will be considered.


All positions require criminal history record check. Required education credentials, license, certification and/or registration must be submitted prior to employment in the position. Some positions require pre-employment drug testing in which the applicant who is offered the position will be required to successfully complete.
