ACCOUNTANT ASSOCIATE

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The Accountant Associate will perform substantially complex and varied administrative functions in the direction and coordination of programs and procedures in the assigned department.

1.    Maintain accurate accounting records by preparing, entering, or verifying accounts payable financial transactions.
2.    Reconcile vendor accounts and identify and prepare corrections by collecting and analyzing account information and analyzing accounting options.
3.    Review and process employee travel requests/expense liquidations and mileage reimbursements.
4.    Assist with month-end close processes and provide support for audits.
5.    Research and respond to internal customer inquiries regarding payment of employee reimbursements and status of vendor setup requests.
6.    Assist with various clerical operations or special projects as required.  

WORKING CONDITIONS 

There are no major sources of discomfort, i.e., essentially normal office environment with acceptable lighting, temperature and air conditions. The position is physically comfortable; the individual has discretion about walking, standing, etc

Requirements

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration or a closely related field such as Finance.
 
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
No experience is required.

Four (4) years of pertinent professional or para-professional experience may substitute for the education requirement. An Associate's degree in Accounting, Business Administration or a closely related field and two (2) years of pertinent professional or para-professional experience may substitute for the education requirement.
 
LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
None.

Qualifications

**Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6.**

  • SAP Experience
  • Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

 None. However ,the department may administer skills assessment test.

Factors used in determining the salary offered include the candidate's qualifications as well as the pay rates of other employees in this classification.
