Academic Cardiac Surgeon

The Department of Surgery at the University of California, Davis; School of Medicine seeks to recruit a full-time Academic Cardiothoracic Surgeon. The academic title will be at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor rank within the Health Sciences Clinical, Clinical X, or In-Residence series depending on experience and qualifications. The successful candidate
will engage in the teaching and practice of a broad spectrum of adult cardiac surgery including transcatheter intervention for structural heart disease.

This position is focused on a mid-career adult cardiac surgeon with broad based skills who has experience practicing in an academic center. The division of cardiac surgery includes adult cardiac surgery and congenital cardiac surgery. There is a robust history within the division of complex aortic surgery, mechanical circulatory support and heart failure therapy, hybrid approaches to cardiac disease with cardiology, and close collaboration with vascular surgery. Applicants can expect to be part of a forward thinking, innovative, and collaborative group of surgeons and cardiovascular specialists.

The salary range for this position is $455,024-$1,164,900 This position includes membership in the Health Sciences Compensation Plan.

Salary and level of appointment will be based upon experience and qualifications. 

Basic Qualifications: (at the time of application)
• Possess a Medical Degree
• Be eligible or certified by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery.
• Have the ability to work cooperatively and collegially within a diverse environment
• Have experience in general cardiac surgery and further training and/or experience with catheter-based surgery

Additional Qualifications: (at the time of start date)
• CA Medical License before the appointment start date,
• Obtain a California Fluoroscopy Operator’s Permit within the first year of appointment.

Preferred Qualifications
•Preferred experience and capability in complex coronary artery revascularization and catheter base intervention
for structural heart disorders.
• Have experience and interest in education and training of surgical residents and medical students and knowledge
of managing a Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit
• Have experience in both aortic surgery and mechanical circulatory support
