$16.50 - $24.75 Hourly

$34,320 - $51,480 Annually

Why does the job exist?

 
Incumbent will be responsible for maintaining assigned unit medical record by auditing, filing, progress notes, sorting, and ordering proper forms. Other clerical duties including receptionist, ordering and receiving of supplies for assigned units. Order and monitor utilization of selected supplies, office printers, telephones, and forms. In addition ward clerk will coordinate in town and out of town appointments for our patients, including transportation and staff.

How does it get done?

 
Incumbents will audit confidential charts regularly for completeness including presence of all necessary documents and signatures; assure additional blank forms are available in chart. Review incoming report/documents daily for proper patient identification, data, Treatment Team signatures, routinely notifying supervisors of any deficiencies, and initiating corrective action.

Ideal Candidate

 
Ideal candidate will have:
Experience working with clerical duties;
Experience working with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA);
Experience auditing confidential charts;
Must be experienced with transmitting patients orders for processing;
Great communication skills.

Minimum Qualification

 
High School diploma or equivalent and three (3) months experience working in a hospital setting using medical terminology, processing and maintaining a medical records system, and/or use of Microsoft Office programs and hospital clinical software. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling three (3) months may substitute for the required experience.

Employment Requirements

 
Must possess a current driver's license and defensive driving certificate.

Working Conditions

 
Work is performed in an office setting, long hours of sitting and extreme computer use required, working in a very high stress level environment, must be able to lift/move a minimum of 25 lbs., may be required to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
