Location: Southwest Health District/Albany, GA

(Remote & Onsite Opportunities)

Paygrade/Salary: Unpaid (College Credit Eligible)

Requirements

  • Provides exceptional customer service and maintains HIPAA Standards 
  • Assisting with public health projects and initiatives within the assigned track  
  • Supporting data collection, analysis, and reporting activities
  • Developing educational materials and public health messaging
  • Participating in outreach, community engagement, or campaign planning
  • Assisting with internal process improvement and SOP development
  • Attending weekly check-ins and professional development sessions
  • Completing a capstone project at the conclusion of the internship
  • Supporting response efforts during public health activities, as appropriate
  • Responds to Public Health Emergencies

Qualifications

Junior, Senior, or Graduate student enrolled in an accredited college or university. Physical requirements for this position include the ability to lift up to 45 lbs., and the ability to bend and reach up.

Preferred Qualifications


  • Interest in governmental public health or community health systems  
  • Coursework or experience related to epidemiology, health education, or communications  
  • Experience with data analysis, social media, or community outreach
  • Familiarity with public health concepts or health disparities
  • Ability to work independently as part of a team


State Merit Application for Employment must be received by this office no later than the deadline (Please mail or bring a copy of College Transcript or Diploma to Interview—must have official transcript prior to start date).  Highlight any experience related to the Preferred Qualifications.  This position may require driving company vehicles (Valid driver’s license required) and working some evenings and weekends during special events such as health fairs and responding to disasters.  Selected applicant must consent to a motor vehicle record assessment.   Points should be less than 10 and/or not negatively impact insurance rates for the agency.  Drug screen, criminal background check and immunization records may be required.  If selected, male applicants between 18 and 26 years of age must present proof of Selective Service Registration.  All information submitted is subject to verification.
