Central Louisiana State Hospital, located in Pineville, Louisiana, is seeking applicants for a vacant position in our Education Department as a Training and Development Specialist 2 who teaches, revises and develops a mix of basic and intermediate level courses for general audiences.

The Training and Development Specialist 2 plays a vital role for the Louisiana Department of Health in the Behavioral Health community by utilizing CLSH’s values and mission to deliver quality and effective care to our patients, and ensuring our facilities are maintained accordingly. The hospital is highly committed to cooperative work with other state agencies and with the state and regional mental health program to ensure the integration and coordination of hospital-community services into a comprehensive system of mental health care.

Requirements

Four years of experience in planning, developing, delivering, or evaluating training programs or academic instruction; human resources, or social services; OR

Six years of full-time experience in any field plus one year of experience in planning, developing, delivering, or evaluating training programs or academic instruction; human resources, or social services; OR

A bachelor's degree plus one year of experience in planning, developing, delivering, or evaluating training programs or academic instruction; human resources, or social services; OR

An advanced degree in education, instructional design, business or public administration, industrial and organizational psychology, organizational behavior or human resources.

EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTIONS:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Designation as a Society for Human Resource Management Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP), Professional in Human Resources (PHR), or a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) will substitute for a maximum of one year of the required experience.

Job Duties:
  • Coordinate and implement training initiatives.
  • Implement scheduling and tracking in accordance with departmental procedure.
  • Collaborate with CLSH department heads and other departmental supervisors to facilitate an efficient and effective assessment of employees in their teams and within identified timeframes.
  • Monitor progress for completion of training initiatives assigned to ensure completion
  • Present curriculum as designed including materials, learning exercises, lesson plans, and schedule training events
  • Provide completed, accurate training documentation to assigned trainer or data entry personnel.
  • Deliver instruction that incorporates differentiated techniques, methods and modes of adult learning.
  • Develop and design curriculum and incorporate current best practice that supports the mission, vision and values of CLSH, OBH, LDH and ORM.
  • Prepare, edit and format Hospital Wide Orientation binders for print and distribution. Prepare and organize training material for Annual Hospital Training.
  • Identify the target audience for training and track the target audience to ensure that all identified staff completed the training.
  • Maintain trainer qualification and certification in Basic Life Support (American Heart Association CPR & First Aid) and Crisis Prevention and Intervention Techniques (CPI).
