Technical Analyst - Health - BPH - Office of Environmental Health Services - Kanawha Co.

This position serves as a district field engineer to ensure the implementation of the EPA's Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) in an assigned District Office area. This position will conduct a wide variety of engineering or creative works for the Environmental Engineering Division (EED). This position performs EPA mandated Sanitary Surveys of public water systems (PWSs), provides technical/engineering assistance to public water systems related to treatment and distribution of public drinking water, conducts engineering reviews for the Infrastructure and Jobs Development Council (IJDC) and Drinking Water Treatment Revolving Fund (DWTRF) funded projects, conducts engineering review on construction permit applications, emergency response including on-site and collecting of critical data during emergencies (floods, blizzards, spills, droughts, etc.) relating to public health protection and engineering services, provides routine and emergency technical assistance to PWS operators, assists in teaching PWS operator training courses to comply with State and Federal requirements, and advises and consults with public officials, consulting engineers, utility operators, property developers and the general public regarding the best available public health engineering practices pursuant to 16-1-9 of the West Virginia State Code. This position is a field position and is required to be on call 24/7/365 for emergency response and disaster relief. The Engineer Series currently has a 67% Vacancy Rate.

Qualifications

Training: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Engineering.

OR 

Substitution: Bachelor's degree from an Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredited college or university with a major in Civil, Electrical, Electrical Design, Mechanical, Chemical or Mining Engineering Technology.

AND

Experience: Five (5) years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid employment in engineering.

OR

Substitution: Master’s degree in engineering may substitute for two (2) years of the required experience.


Special Requirement: A valid driver’s license is required.
