Requirements

Possession of a current Louisiana license to practice as a Licensed Master's Social Worker (LMSW) or a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) plus:

A master's degree in social work followed by one year of social services experience.

  • Manages a large, complex caseload of clients who are individuals with serious and persistent mental illness.  
  • Provides specialized individual, group or family therapy utilizing advanced social work skills.  
  • Completes psychosocial assessments on new clients and prepares individualized treatment plans for multi-disciplinary staff meetings.   
  • Manages complex situations dealing with interpersonal, social or co-occurring issues.  
  • Provides timely documentation of contacts within the client chart and carries out appropriate discharge planning.  
  • . Provides screening on clients with mental health disorders and co-occurring disorders. 

  • Develops with client their individual treatment plan listing his or her goals and objectives, strengths, weaknesses and action plan.

This position may be filled as:

  • Temporary Job Appointment: This position may be filled by temporary job appointment not to exceed 48 months.
  • Probational Appointment: Current permanent status classified State employees may be required to accept a probational appointment, if selected.

  • This vacancy is located at Baton Rouge Behavioral Health's Admission Department.
  • Licensed Master's Social Worker (LMSW) or Louisiana Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) licensure by the Louisiana State Board of Social Work Examiners is required for this job.
As part of a Career Progression Group, vacancies may be filled from this recruitment as a Social Worker  2, 3 or 4 depending on the level of education and experience of the selected applicant(s).  

  • Social Worker 2 (pay grade level SS-413) has a minimum salary of $19.67/hourly; $1,573.60/bi-weekly.
  • Social Worker 3 (pay grade level SS-414) has a minimum salary of $21.05/hourly; $1,684.00/bi-weekly.
  • Social Worker 4 (pay grade level SS-415) has a minimum salary of $22.52/hourly; $1,801.60/bi-weekly.

The advertised maximum amount listed is the maximum salary a person can make while in this title/level over their career and not the maximum amount we are allowed to pay a new hire.
