Why does the job exist?

 
The position assists in the daily monitoring of residents; working closely with clinical, education, and other milieu staff. Duties may include but are not limited to: assisting in development of life skills, recreation and social activities as well as redirecting patient behavior. Responsible for the monthly milieu schedule. Daily oversight and management of the milieu schedule for all Mental Health Technicians and PRN's to include mandated overtime logs. Support milieu supervisors with the daily operation, to include training. Serve as a mentor to explain, train, and or demonstrate tasks to other Mental Health Technician's. Support administration by providing lodge rounds and ensuring adequate coverage and communicating changes as they occur. Provide milieu supervision as needed and as assigned. This position will be required to work-day, evening, weekend, and or holiday shifts as well as mandatory overtime on occasion.

Crisis Prevention Intervention and Trauma Informed Care are the cornerstone of treatment at Sequoyah Adolescent Treatment Center. De-escalation techniques and coping mechanisms are offered to residents and life skills are taught to assist with success upon discharge. To assure safety of all residents and staff by adhering to Model of Care, policies and procedures and maintaining consistent programming. Oversee and support all of milieu staff by leading by example and modeling behaviors. Crisis Prevention Intervention and Trauma Informed Care are the cornerstone of treatment at Sequoyah Adolescent Treatment Center. De-escalation techniques and coping mechanisms are offered to residents and life skills are taught to assist with success upon discharge. Schedule - collect and track leave requests, overtime forms and finding coverage for daily schedules. Maintain a mandatory overtime list. Assist with KRONOS timekeeping system.

Our facility is a secure facility which serves the needs of adolescent males ages 13-17 with a history of violence and aggression.

Ideal Candidate

Creating and maintaining facility schedules.

Minimum Qualification

 
High School Diploma and two (2) years of experience as it pertains to the essential duties of the classification. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling two (2) years may substitute for the required experience.

Employment Requirements

 
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License and a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico; or must obtain Defensive Driving Course Certification within six (6) months of hire as a condition of continued employment. Employment is subject to a pre-employment background investigation and is conditional pending results.

Working Conditions

 
Work is performed in an adolescent treatment center, with exposure to mentally and/or behaviorally challenged residents, who may exhibit unpredictable behaviors. This position may work in an office setting using related office equipment, with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Ability to push and/or pull, lift and/or carry fifty (50) pounds +/- with assistance may be required.
