Interviews will be held beginning week of April 20, 2026.
Job offers will be made beginning week of April 27, 2026.


Future Salary Increases:

** June 2026 – 9.96% increase to base pay (3.0% Across-the-Board + 6.96% Market Adjustment) 

** June 2027 – 9.86% increase to base pay (2.90% Across-the- Board + 6.96% Market Adjustment)



Hourly Rates and Premiums


Senior Healthcare Agency Housekeepers may be assigned to one of two shifts:  
Morning (7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.) or Night (3 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.) 

The Health and Human Services Agency is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Senior Healthcare Agency Housekeeper. As the Senior Healthcare Agency Housekeeper, you will independently perform housekeeping services within assigned area(s) of a hospital and/or other healthcare facility. The quality candidate provides guidance and training in the use of equipment, cleaning agents, and housekeeping practice and ensures subordinates comply with job safety factors.

The current vacancies are at the Edgemoor Distinct Part-Skilled Nursing Facility (DP/SNF) located in San Diego's East County suburb of Santee, 655 Park Center Drive, Santee, CA 92071; however, the list established from this recruitment may also be used to fill future vacancies in other departments.

The Edgemoor Distinct Part Skilled Nursing Facility provides 24-hour long term skilled nursing care for individuals having complex medical needs who require specialized interventions from highly trained staff.  It is a FIVE STAR facility, having received this highest rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).  Edgemoor has been named yearly as one of the top nursing facilities in the USA by US News and World Report since 2012.  Edgemoor is a restraint free, smoke free facility and has exceptionally high- quality measures.

Hiring Process and Timeline
The timeline for this recruitment is outlined below.

  • Job Offer and Background Process beginning week of April 27, 2026. .Note: Current County employees may be excluded from additional background screening.
  • Pre-employment Medical Screening: Approximately 3 days following successful background investigation results.
  • Anticipated Start Date: Start date will be based upon successful completion of medical screening or other mutually agreed upon date.

Minimum Requirements

  1. Two (2) years of paid, housekeeping and/or custodial experience; at least one (1) year of this experience must have been in a hospital, health care facility, or commercial or business setting; OR,
  2. One (1) year of experience as a Healthcare Agency Housekeeper in the County of San Diego.

Note: Completion of a Regional Occupational Program (ROP), or equivalent, in Commercial Cleaning is highly desirable at the time of application, and may substitute for six (6) months of the required experience.

Condition of Employment 

As part of the County of San Diego’s pre-employment process, prospective candidates will undergo a background check (including fingerprinting) and a pre-employment medical screening prior to beginning County employment. Additional types of background investigations may be conducted based on the job-related activities of the position. Current County employees may be excluded from this process.
 

Evaluation

The names of qualified applicants will be placed on a six (6) month employment list based upon scores received during the evaluation of information contained in their employment application and  supplemental questionnaire. Please ensure all information is complete and accurate as the responses you provide on the supplemental application form will be reviewed using an automated evaluation system. If you are successful in the initial screening process your application will be reviewed individually to confirm the information you provided is accurate and qualifying.
