Why does the job exist?

 
Incumbent will provide administrative support for the Center of Public Health Operations and Center for Health Protection.

How does it get done?

 
Incumbent will be responsible for responding to customer and staff inquiries and making sure that any issues that arise are resolved.  This position works closely with the Center for Public Health Operations and the Center for Health Protection.  Incumbent will provide customer service, assist the Center Director and staff with administrative needs, fleet management, Smartsheet, organization charts, and payables.

State of New Mexico constituents and NMDOH staff.

Ideal Candidate

 
Two (2) years of work experience in office administration and/or customer service. Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word, managing files and records, designing forms and other office procedures and terminology. Good communication skills both verbal and written and the ability to convey information effectively. Use critical thinking to solve problems and help each conclusion or approaches to problems.

Minimum Qualification

 
High School diploma or equivalent and six (6) months of work experience in office administration and/or customer service. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling six (6) months may substitute for the required experience.

Employment Requirements

 
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.

Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certification from the State of New Mexico, or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment

Working Conditions

 
Work is usually performed in an office setting, with extensive exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT), personal computer and telephone usage. This position also requires the employee to use a copy machine, printer, fax machine and 10 key calculator. Sitting for long periods of time, bending, stooping to file, and occasionally lifting a minimum of 25 pounds.
