Central Louisiana State Hospital located in Pineville, Louisiana is seeking applicants for a vacant position in our NURSING DEPARTMENT as a Registered Nurse Manager who serves as a manager over direct care staff at our facility.

The Registered Nurse Manager plays a vital role for the Louisiana Department of Health in the Behavioral Health community by utilizing CLSH’s values and mission to deliver quality and effective care to our patients. The hospital is highly committed to cooperative work with other state agencies and with the state and regional mental health program to insure the integration and coordination of hospital-community services into a comprehensive system of mental health care.

Requirements

Possession of a current Louisiana Registered Nurse license or a temporary permit or multi-state license issued by a Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC/eNLC) state to practice as a registered nurse plus one of the following:

Four years of experience as a licensed registered nurse; OR

A bachelor's degree in nursing plus three years of experience as a licensed registered nurse; OR

A master's degree in nursing or public health plus three years of experience as a licensed registered nurse; OR

A doctorate in nursing or public health plus two years of experience as a licensed registered nurse.

JOB DUTIES AND OTHER INFORMATION:

  • Provides leadership and direction to nursing members in accordance with organizational and departmental goals and objectives.
  • Plans, manages, and directs total nursing services of a multi-service patient area on a 24-hour basis.
  • Coordinates patient and nursing activities with other departments and disciplines.
  • Provides direct administrative supervision, support and consultation to RN Supervisors, Registered Nurses and/or other paraprofessionals and indirect supervision, support, consultation and counseling for lower nursing subordinates on assigned teams.
  • Makes regular and frequent nursing and supervisory rounds, monitors treatment performance/patient care and records documentation to assure compliance with defined standards.
  • Develops performance plans with subordinates, monitors performance and work products, provides coaching and training as needed.
  • Investigates, documents and reports unusual incidents and assists or acts as a resource person with regards to the incident.
  • Reviews schedules daily to ensure adequate professional and paraprofessional nursing coverage 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, based on current patient acuity census.
  • Reviews and revises unit policies in accordance with Nursing and Hospital policies, procedures, accreditation requirements and standards of practice
  • In absence of Director of Nursing and/or Assistant Director of Nursing, assumes delegated responsibilities when needed.

Position-Specific Details:

Appointment Type: Probation, Promotion, Demotion or Transfer. 

Compensation: Registered Nurse Manger has a Special Entrance Rate (SER) of $3,583.20 bi-weekly
In addition to the SER rate of pay/hour, this position receives:
Premium Pay of $10.00/hour worked
Longevity Pay starting at an additional $2.00/hour worked, up to $5.00/hour worked.

Shift Differential is also earned, depending upon time of shift worked
