Why does the job exist?

 
This position provides comprehensive Nursing care to meet the needs of clients in the Juniper unit at Long Term Care. Incumbent will record client history and symptoms, administer treatment and medications and act as a member of the treatment team.

How does it get done?

 
Incumbent will be responsible for administration of all types of medications and treatments, assist with personal care and ADLs, and assists with diagnostic therapeutic procedures.

Ideal Candidate

 
Ideal candidate will have:
Experience working with population who carry a primary/secondary diagnosis of Dementia and who require nursing care needs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week;
Experience performing direct nursing services such as administering medications and treatments; assists with personal care and ADLs, and assists with diagnostic therapeutic procedure;
Experience conducting scheduled unit rounds to ensure resident care is being administered.

Minimum Qualification

 
Must possess a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in New Mexico, or eligibility for such licensure in accordance with New Mexico requirements, or eligibility for a temporary license issued for employment at a specific institution in New Mexico and two (2) years of experience as it pertains to the essential duties and responsibilities of the classification.

Employment Requirements

 
This position is designated as safety sensitive. Employment is subject to pre-employment and random testing, in accordance with all terms and conditions of federal and state law, rules and regulations in relation to alcohol and/or drug testing. Employment is subject to nationwide criminal background check and is conditional
pending results.

Working Conditions

 
This position will perform work in a hospital and office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Exposure to mentally and behaviorally challenged residents who may exhibit unpredictable and sometimes violent behaviors in volatile situations requiring crisis intervention may be required. Effective 1/1/2015, the New Mexico Behavioral Health Institute became a 100% Tobacco Free/E-Cigarette Free Campus. As such, no tobacco, tobacco products or E-Cigarette products are permitted on any part of the campus. Unit is Long Term Care (Juniper). Shift 3 pm to 11 pm.
