The Northeast Health District’s Children’s Medical Services (CMS) Program is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to provide nursing care and professional expertise for children and youth with special health care needs. This role involves conducting assessments, coordinating care, supporting families, and collaborating with an interdisciplinary team to improve health outcomes. The CMS Program offers a supportive, team-based environment focused on improving the health and quality of life for children and families.


As a Registered Nurse within the Children’s Medical Services at the Georgia Department of Public Health, you will join a dedicated group of public health professionals that help support the overall mission and vision of protecting lives of Georgian residents in a variety of ways.

Requirements

  • Provide nursing care and case management for pediatric clients.
  • Perform comprehensive health assessments and monitor patient progress.
  • Assist families with appointments, treatments, and care coordination.
  • Participate in CMS telemedicine and specialty clinics.
  • Maintain documentation and adhere to CMS policies and guidelines.
  • Support transitions from pediatric to adult health care services.
  • Participate in outreach events and community-based activities.

Qualifications

Associate's degree in nursing from an accredited college or university AND completion of a PHN course within one year of hire AND current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license AND CPR certification. Note: No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in pediatric, public health, or case management nursing.
  • Strong assessment, documentation, and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) and standard office software.
  • Ability to work in office, clinic, and community settings; valid driver’s license required.

Position Details:

  • Hourly Rate: $45/hour
  • Hours: 24-29 hours per week

The DPH Commissioner and agency leaders encourage all employees to engage in regular wellness activities and to make lifestyle choices that promote health and well-being. 

The use of physical activity breaks during the workday is authorized to support this philosophy and help employees meet their wellness goals. A maximum of 30 minutes of physical activity may be allocated per workday, typically in the form of two 15-minute breaks or one 30-minute break.

DPH accepts educational credentials recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and/or the US Department of Education (DOE) as valid. DPH will contact educational institutions to verify degrees, diplomas, licensures, and other relevant credentials.
