This position is funded through special revenue.

Position Overview:

The Registered Dietitian is responsible for assessing patients' nutritional needs, developing personalized dietary plans, and providing education on healthy eating habits. The Dietitian will work together with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to incorporate nutritional interventions into the comprehensive patient care plan. The position responsibilities also include building and maintaining relationships with community partners.


Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide nutrition counseling and education to individuals and groups, addressing specific health conditions and dietary concerns. Including but not limited to diabetes, heart diseases, hypertension, obesity, malnutrition, and kidney diseases.
  • Monitor patients' progress and adjust nutrition plans as needed.
  • Document patient interactions and maintain accurate records.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to integrate nutrition interventions into overall patient care and providing referrals to healthcare professionals as appropriate.
  • Participate in community outreach programs to promote nutrition awareness and preventive healthcare.
  • Provides monthly, quarterly and annual program reports.
  • Stay updated on the latest nutritional research, guidelines, and trends to enhance patient care and other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or Related Field

Experience:

  • At least one (1) year of experience in Nutrition, Dietetics, or Related Field

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Registered Dietitian credentials and state license
  • Valid Texas Driver's License

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and foster teamwork in a diverse environment.
  • Ability to work well with public and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality when dealing with sensitive information.

Qualifications

Language:

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish

Experience:

  • At least one (1) year of experience in a clinical health setting

Position Type, and Typical Hours of Work:

  • This is a full-time position, funded through special revenue
  • Monday - Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
  • Expected to travel within Harris County jurisdiction

Work Environment:

  • This job operates in both a professional office and community environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

Physical Demands:

  • This role requires the ability to lift, carry, push, pull up to 50 pounds and bending & standing for periods at a time.
