Why does the job exist?

 
This job exists to provide recreational therapeutic activities within an established recreational program at a residential treatment center as part of the resident's treatment plan.

How does it get done?

 
This position will plan, organize and direct recreational activities for residents.

Who are the customers?

 
Our facility is a secure facility which serves the needs of adolescent males ages 13-17 with a history of violence and aggression.

Ideal Candidate

 
Experience creating recreational activities and plans for adolescents between the ages of 13 to 17.

Minimum Qualification

 
High School Diploma or equivalent and one (1) year experience as it pertains to the essential duties and responsibilities of the classification. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling one (1) year may substitute for the required experience.

Employment Requirements

 
Must possess and maintain a valid NM driver's license and Defensive Driving Certificate. Must pass a background check.

Working Conditions

 
Work is performed in an adolescent treatment center, with exposure to mentally and/or behaviorally challenged residents, who may exhibit unpredictable behaviors. This position may work in an office setting using related office equipment, with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Pushing, pulling, moving, lifting up to 100 lbs. with another's aid may be necessary.
