Quality Assurance Coordinator

The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Division of Family Well-Being and Protection, Bureau of Child Protective Services, Policy is seeking a Quality Assurance Coordinator (Job Classification: Human Services Quality Assurance Coordinator) to join our team! 


This position performs professional level work developing, implementing and monitoring the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) quality assurance (QA) program; provides leadership and technical assistance to staff in support of QA efforts.


Some tasks include promoting a culture of quality improvement, working with service area and policy staff on the principles of quality improvement, identifying areas of opportunity for quality improvement and assisting in identification of methods of evaluating the effectiveness of quality improvement activities.


The ideal candidate will: 

  • Has current/relevant field experience as a Quality Assurance Coordinator. 
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with state, local and federal agencies, private enterprise, other political subdivisions, and the public. 
  • Demonstrate excellent judgment and communication skills. 
  • Ability to provide good written documentation in a timely manner. 
  • Ability to prioritize and work under pressure. 
  • Ability to work independently. 
  • Demonstrates integrity and a strong work ethic. 
  • Ability to use independent judgement to make sound decisions.

The following experience/skills are preferred: 

  • Critical thinking skills and plan development 
  • Customer service including de-escalation of conflictual or adversarial situations 
  • Excellent oral and written communication and report composition 
  • Teamwork, collaboration, and consultation 
  • Ability to multi-task 
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines 

Preference will be given for experience in Child Welfare as it correlates directly with the requirements and duties of the position.

Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university and experience equal to two years of fulltime work experience in quality assurance, quality improvement, or total quality management;

OR
an equivalent combination of experience and education substituting one year of the required experience for each 30 semester hours or one year of the required education to a maximum of four years.
