Requirements

  • Provides outstanding customer service
  • Maintains HIPAA standards related to Privacy and Security
  • Obtains Health History
  • Provides comprehensive assessments of male/female patients which may include genitalia exams
  • Collects specimens, performs lab tests including pregnancy tests, and conducts microscopic assessments
  • Provides education, treatments, and administers medications and vaccinations
  • Maintains CPR Certification 
  • May conduct home visits, participate in health fairs, serve on committees, and make presentations
  • May be assigned to assist in other counties in the district
  • Respond to Public Health Emergencies 

Qualifications

Associate degree in nursing from an accredited college or university and completion of a PHN course within one (1) year of hire and current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license and CPR certification. (Please mail or bring a copy of your College Transcript or Diploma to the Interview—you must have an official transcript prior to the start date). This position requires the ability to lift up to 45 lbs. and the ability to bend and reach up..

Preferred Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing
  • Previous employment with any state’s Department of Public Health or a County Board of Health  
  • Experience administering immunizations
  • Baccalaureate-level health assessment course
  • Experience performing physical exams on adults (including genitalia) and children
  • Bilingual (Spanish), ability to interpret and translate Public Health information orally and in writing from English into Spanish and Spanish into English

A State Merit Application for Employment must be received by this office no later than the deadline. Highlight any experience related to the Preferred Qualifications. This position may require driving company vehicles (Valid driver’s license required) and working some evenings and weekends during special events such as health fairs and responding to disasters. Selected applicant must consent to a motor vehicle record assessment. Points should be less than 10 and/or not negatively impact insurance rates for the agency. Drug screen, criminal background check and immunization records may be required.
