Join the Section of Environmental Epidemiology and Toxicology (SEET) and play a critical role in protecting community health across Louisiana. This Public Health Epidemiologist position focuses on analyzing and tracking environmental and public health data to identify areas impacted by toxic exposures, hazardous substances, or elevated disease rates. You’ll work with statewide and national partners, including CDC workgroups, to develop consistent data measures, conduct trend and statistical analyses, and support investigations that drive prevention and intervention efforts. Requirements

A master's degree in epidemiology, public health, biology, nursing, physical, behavioral, natural, or veterinary sciences plus one year of experience in epidemiology; OR

A doctorate degree in epidemiology.

  • Obtains and reviews environmental and health data and processed Nationally Consistent Data and Measures (NCDMs).
  • Maintains and updates SEET's EPHT databases and performs statistical analyses of EPHT data.
  • Consults on health effects attributed to air and drinking water quality and assists in the drafting and finalizing of annual EPHT summary reports.
  • Collects  and tracks  EPHT related cases received from all sources; including collecting and compiling related medical records and laboratory results; 
  • Establishes a relationship with partners and identifying additional data sources
  •  Compiles and analyzes health and environmental data; establishes and maintains electronic and manual files for stored data; prepares and evaluates existing databases containing populationmortality, morbidity, hospitalizationbirth defectchildhood lead, reproductive health outcome, poison control, water, air and geospatial data to report on factors which may affect the health of Louisiana citizens.
  • Supports EPHT projects by conducting literature reviewepidemiologic analysis to include descriptive statistics and more advanced analyses in consultation with statistician, presents findings to partners and participates in project discussionsformulates repeatable analyses so that these methods can be shared and documented.
  • Documents all processing steps in metadata and for knowledge transfer for redundancy to ensure data requests can be fulfilled.
  • Extensive usage of Microsoft Office proficiency, Database Management, and writing/composing information.
