The mission of Pinecrest Supports and Services Center is to support people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to reach treatment goals and to return to more integrated community living settings. Pinecrest Supports and Services Center specializes in the treatment of people with comorbid intellectual and developmental disabilities and complex medical, behavioral, and psychiatric support needs.

Pinecrest Supports & Services Center (PSSC) is seeking a dedicated Psychologist to join our dynamic team. This role is essential in ensuring high-quality care and coordination across our programs.

  • Provide and coordinate psychological services for treatment and rehabilitation in the individual's homes, day programs, work areas, and recreational settings. Design and implement programs involving the application of behavior treatment principles and techniques.
  • Monitor and oversee treatment plan developments and implementation. Provide clinical supervision to ATAPs to build clinical capacities. Provide direct assessment and treatment for more complex cases needing higher level interventions. Conduct group, individual, family or other specialized psychotherapy with individuals as needed.
  • Coordinate and work with other disciplines to assure coordinated interdisciplinary treatment and care.
  • Evaluate work and performance of ATAPs by ensuring completeness and accuracy in work quality and quantity by reviewing documents, reports, or records. Supervise progress toward achieving reducing challenging behaviors, improving independence, and increasing the likelihood for community transition.
  • Supervise training, orientation, and continuing development by ensuring staff is trained to provide continuous care and security to individuals supported by PSSC. Prepare Continuous Performance Management planning and evaluation forms for subordinates. Maintain personnel file and official position descriptions on all employees supervised.
  • Administer or review results of the full range of diagnostic tests for psychological assessment, interpret results and prepare psychological evaluations. Complete intake assessments on new admissions. Complete intellectual assessments. Perform psychological diagnoses and treatment and participate as a member of an individual's treatment staff discussions of diagnosis, treatment, progress and treatment planning.
  • Train and advise staff in implementing special treatment or rehabilitative programs. Provide technical consultation and coordination of services to interdisciplinary staff.

Position-Specific Details:

Department: LDH Pinecrest – Psychology Department

Appointment Type: This position may be filled by Detail to Special Duty, Probation, Promotion, 

Demotion, or Lateral Transfer. Preference may be given to permanent classified employees of Pinecrest Supports and Services Center.

Career Progression: This position may be filled as a Psychology Post-Doctoral Fellow, Psychologist 2 or Psychologist 3, depending on the level of education and experience of the selected applicant.

Compensation: Depends on Qualifications. This position receives premium pay of $2.00 per hour as well as Longevity Pay. This position offers the following Special Entrance Rates: 

Psychology Post-Doctoral Fellow $36.56hr. – $53.14hr. 

Psychologist 2 $39.12hr. – $56.86hr.

Psychologist 3 $44.79hr.  - $65.10hr.

A Louisiana License to practice Psychology must be obtained within one year of appointment. 

Louisiana Department of Health (LDH) will cover the cost of the EPPP Test Prep for the selected candidate. The selected candidate must maintain employment with Pinecrest for 12 months.
