Psych Aide 3

Division: Within the Nursing Department at ELMHS, Located in Jackson, LA 

The Mission of ELMHS is to provide mental health evaluation, treatment, habilitation, and consultation for adults. Programs include inpatient interventions, jail-based evaluations, supervised group home and residential programs, forensic evaluation, care, custody, and aftercare; intermediate and long-term psychiatric services are coordinated with the total system of care in Louisiana 

ELMHS is looking for a motivated, detail-oriented, and positive individual to join our team as a Psych Aide 3! 

Requirements

Eighteen months of experience in providing behavioral health or developmentally disabled services, or psychiatric patient care; OR

Nine semester hours of college coursework in a social sciences field, education, social work, child guidance, or nursing; OR

One year of experience in providing behavioral health or developmentally disabled services or psychiatric patient care plus a Behavioral Health Aide Diploma from a vocational technical college with an approved curriculum from the Louisiana State Board of Elementary and Secondary Education.

Job Duties:  

In this role, you will:

  • Provides emotional/physical support as indicated based on knowledge of the patients' psychiatric disorder, communication skills, and behavior.
  • Communicates to nursing staff all verbal interactions with patients.
  • Maintains appropriate therapeutic staff - patient relationship and utilizes knowledge of therapeutic techniques.
  • Performs specialized patient care activities, such as range of motion, postmortem care, isolation techniques and observation of restrained patients.
  • Serves as lead worker over Psychiatric Aides of a lower level.
  • Performs all duties of lower-level psychiatric aides.

Appointment Type:  Probational or Promotional

Work Schedule: Days or Nights

Compensation: 

  • This position is eligible for an SER rate of $13.91 an hour or $1112.80 bi-weekly 
  • This position is eligible for the following premium pays (Per Hour Physically Worked):
    • $1.00 an hour for Facility Longevity
    • $1.50 an hour for Recruitment and Retention
