The mission of the Louisiana Department of Health is to protect and promote health and to ensure access to medical, preventive, and rehabilitative services for all residents of the State of Louisiana.

This position may be filled in the following parishes: East Baton Rouge Parish

The Program Monitor position will conduct quality assurance reviews of completed screenings to ensure consistent and accurate administration of the Screening Urgency of Need (SUN) tool. This candidate will evaluate and process reconsideration requests from individuals and families who wish to seek clarification or appeal their SUN scores. Program Monitor will develop documentation and tracking reports related to all activities related to the SUN. This candidate will collaborate with key stakeholders, including families, Local Governing Entities (LGE), LDH Program Offices, and the Medicaid Data Contractor to ensure effective communication and coordination.

Requirements

Five years of experience in developing, managing, or evaluating health or social service programs; or in public health, public relations, social services, health services, health regulation, or administrative services; OR

Six years of full-time work experience in any field plus two years of experience in developing, managing, or evaluating health or social service programs; or in public health, public relations, social services, health services, health regulation, or administrative services; OR

A bachelor’s degree plus two years of experience in developing, managing, or evaluating health or social service programs; or in public health, public relations, social services, health services, health regulation, or administrative services; OR

An advanced degree or a Juris Doctorate plus one year of experience in developing, managing, or evaluating health or social service programs; or in public health, public relations, social services, health services, health regulation, or administrative services.

EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

  • Conducts quality assurance reviews of completed screenings; prepares weekly reports on attempted contacts
  • Prepares, interprets and clarifies the screening urgency of need policy document
  • Reviews current and proposed state regulations and/or revisions to those regulations for state-funded services
  • Develops resource guides and provides essential guidance to managers regarding preparing accurate, pertinent and substantiated data
  • Advises and assists screeners in performing screenings to ensure consistency for scoring
  • Evaluate and process reconsideration requests from individuals and families
  • Monitors and evaluates screening notes
  • Assist in outreach to the Medicaid Data Contractor for updates on waiver opportunities
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders, including families, Local Governing Entities (LGE), LDH Program Offices and the Medicaid Data Contractor
