Step into a senior leadership role with real community impact. As the Regional Administrator for OPH Region 6, you’ll partner closely with the Regional Medical Director to lead the delivery of comprehensive public health services across eight parishes, supporting health units, regional offices, specialty clinics, and WIC contract sites that serve thousands of residents.

In this high-level role, you’ll oversee administrative operations, supervise key public health professionals, and coordinate diverse programs to ensure effective, responsive services throughout the region. You’ll also take on statewide responsibilities that include fieldwork, inspections, and investigations—offering variety, visibility, and the opportunity to influence public health efforts beyond your home parish. Requirements

Seven years of experience in developing, managing, or evaluating health or social service programs; or in public health, public relations, social services, health services, health regulation, or administrative services; OR

Six years of full-time work experience in any field plus four years of experience in developing, managing, or evaluating health or social service programs; or in public health, public relations, social services, health services, health regulation, or administrative services; OR

A bachelor’s degree plus four years of experience in developing, managing, or evaluating health or social service programs; or in public health, public relations, social services, health services, health regulation, or administrative services; OR

An advanced degree or a Juris Doctorate plus three years of experience in developing, managing, or evaluating health or social service programs; or in public health, public relations, social services, health services, health regulation, or administrative services.

EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

• Oversees day-to-day administrative and programmatic operations of the Office of Public Health in Region 6, coordinating with parish and municipal governments, community leaders, legislators, and agency partners alongside the Regional Medical Director.

• Evaluates physical facility needs for parish health units, develops space and operational specifications, and coordinates maintenance and infrastructure activities with parish officials and regional staff.

• Plans, prioritizes, and directs the delivery of public health services across the region, ensuring programs meet agency objectives and comply with state and federal regulations while monitoring quality, effectiveness, and outcomes.

• Supervises regional staff and program managers, conducts staff meetings, oversees workforce development and training initiatives, and implements innovative service delivery approaches through community partnerships.

• Manages fiscal and administrative functions for regional and parish health units, including budget preparation and monitoring, purchasing and expenditures, contract and MOU negotiations, and coordination with parish police juries on funding and resources.

• Directs regional human resources activities, including recruitment, hiring, onboarding, training, and employee relations, and assists with corrective and performance management actions.

• Assists in emergency preparedness, response, and recovery efforts by serving on the Regional Incident Command Team, supporting Emergency Operations Center and Medical Special Needs Shelter operations, ensuring continuity of operations, and coordinating with state and local emergency partners.
