Join the Louisiana Department of Health as a key leader in public health emergency preparedness. This position within the Bureau of Community Preparedness plays a central role in coordinating all-hazards planning for the Louisiana Office of Public Health, overseeing the development and alignment of statewide emergency response plans. The selected candidate will lead critical initiatives that strengthen Louisiana’s readiness for public health emergencies, including coordinating response planning, analyzing and interpreting data to inform preparedness strategies, and supporting drills, trainings, and exercises with community partners. This role also collaborates with state agencies, healthcare organizations, and stakeholders to build strong partnerships that support effective emergency response and public health protection. Requirements

Seven years of experience in developing, managing, or evaluating health or social service programs; or in public health, public relations, social services, health services, health regulation, or administrative services; OR

Six years of full-time work experience in any field plus four years of experience in developing, managing, or evaluating health or social service programs; or in public health, public relations, social services, health services, health regulation, or administrative services; OR

A bachelor’s degree plus four years of experience in developing, managing, or evaluating health or social service programs; or in public health, public relations, social services, health services, health regulation, or administrative services; OR

An advanced degree or a Juris Doctorate plus three years of experience in developing, managing, or evaluating health or social service programs; or in public health, public relations, social services, health services, health regulation, or administrative services.

EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

·  Serves as the central coordinator for public health emergency management activities, policy development, and the Bureau’s plan alignment and development processes.

·  Coordinates the development and refinement of statewide public health emergency plans and ensures alignment with operational procedures used during public health disasters.

·  Collaborates with subject matter experts and partner agencies to develop policies, response procedures, and planning strategies for emergency preparedness and response.

·  Oversees the collection, management, analysis, and secure handling of public health data to ensure accuracy, reliability, and compliance with regulatory requirements.

·  Monitors and evaluates data systems and technologies, recommending improvements, upgrades, and modifications to enhance emergency response and data management capabilities.

·  Manages and coordinates multiple projects and initiatives, including planning, scheduling, reporting, financial tracking, and performance metrics.

·  Provides technical assistance and guidance to staff on programmatic, data management, and emergency preparedness issues.

·  Supports preparedness activities such as drills, trainings, exercises, and public education initiatives related to public health emergency response.

·  Assists with federal grant applications, contract and memorandum development, compliance reporting, and responses to oversight entities.
