Connect passion with purpose. The Fulton County Board of Health provides a variety of services that help protect residents from health threats, increase access to health services to improve health outcomes, and provide information that assists Fulton County citizens in living healthier lives.


The agency is seeking a highly qualified candidate for the position of Program Director/Chief Health Strategist within the Fulton County Board of Health in the Director's Office.

Requirements

- Develop strategies for promoting health and well-being that work most effectively for communities. Ensure implementation of the community health improvement plan.
- Develop an agenda and action plan to align the agency’s influence, partnerships, collaborations, and resource development efforts with the core elements of the Vital Conditions for Health and Wellbeing. Develop additional     resources to support this work at the community level.
- Build a more integrated, effective health system through collaboration between clinical care and public
  health. Engage in meetings with hospital systems, community-based practices and payors. Coordinate with the Fulton County manager’s strategic efforts to expand access to medical care.
PSE Implementation Support
- Identify and communicate emerging evidence-based policies to improve community health indicators. Track and provide updates on legislation at national, state, and local levels for direct and indirect impact on LHD practice    and health of the community.
- Facilitate the design, implementation, and evaluation of countywide policy, systems and environmental change initiatives in collaboration with internal programs and external partners.
- Provide technical assistance on integrated health considerations into planning for city governments, schools systems, and other partners.
Strategic Communication
- Collaborate with Communications Office to convey the purpose and priorities of the Board of Health. Help develop media campaigns that contribute to the implementation of the agency’s strategic plan and the Community Health Improvement plan.
Capacity Building/Resource Acquisition
- Develop recommendations for aligning funding and staffing to strategic priorities and collaborate with the Finance and Human Resource Offices to implement recommendations approved by Executive Leadership.
- Research, prepare, and submit proposals to secure funding from grant-making organizations.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in health care services or related field from an accredited college or university and five (5) years of professional managerial or supervisory experience in health care services; or two (2) years of experience at the lower level Mgr 3, Hlth Care (HCM012) or position equivalent.

Note: Some positions may require certification and/or licensure.

Data Utilization: Requires the ability to synthesize, hypothesize, and/or theorize concerning data involving modification of existing policies, strategies, and/or methods to meet unique or unusual conditions. Requires the ability to do so within the context of existing organizational theories and management principles.

Human Interaction: Requires the ability to function in a managerial capacity for a division or organizational unit; includes the ability to make decisions on procedural and technical levels.

Equipment, Machinery, Tools, and Materials Utilization: Requires the ability to operate and control the actions of equipment and machinery, requiring the monitoring, adjustment, regulation, and/or setting of multiple conditions.

Verbal Aptitude: Requires the ability to utilize a wide variety of references, descriptive, advisory, and/or design data and information.

Mathematical Aptitude: Requires the ability to perform moderately complex algebraic and geometric operations; ability to utilize principles of basic probability and statistical inference. 

Functional Reasoning: Requires the ability to apply principles of logical or synthesis functions; deal with concrete and abstract variables; and analyze major problems that require complex planning for interrelated activities that can span one or several work units.

Situational Reasoning: Requires the ability to exercise judgment, decisiveness, and creativity in critical and/or unexpected situations involving moderate risk to the organization.
