Preparedness and Safety Coordinator
Status: Full Time contract with benefits
Reports To: Director of Facilities Management, Environmental Health, and Preparedness
Pay Rate: $20.00/hour based on experience
Location:LTDHD District Office in Elizabethtown
Primary duties include, but are not limited to:
- Responsible for the maintenance and oversight of the LTDHD ESF 8 Base and Support Plan. Collaborate with regional emergency response partners to complete an integrated assessment of public health system capacities related to bioterrorism, other infectious disease outbreaks and other public health threats and emergencies to aid and improve planning, coordination, and implementation. With assistance from and cooperation with supervisor and District Director develop, exercise, evaluate and maintain comprehensive public health preparedness and response plans that support local, regional, and statewide responses to incidents of bioterrorism, catastrophic infectious disease, natural disasters, and other health threats and emergencies. Maintain a system for 24/7 notification or activation of the public health emergency response system. Continue to meet KY DPH Preparedness Deliverables.
- Establishes working relationships with county KyEM Coordinators and Regional Managers to plan and maintain medical response strategies for Annex M for each county KyEM Operations Plan. Participate in local, regional, and state meetings. Keep informed of public health needs, actions, plans, training pertaining to Emergency Support Function 8.
- Responsible for the maintenance and oversight of the LTDHD Safety Data Sheet Manual and the LTDHD Safety Manual. Assures agency compliance with OSHA to include LTDHD Safety Plan. Chairs the LTDHD Safety meeting. Maintains membership, provides agenda, documents meeting minutes, and evaluates risk. With the safety committee members, make recommendations to the public health director for policies, resources, and or procedures to improve safety and reduce overall risk. Provides input to HR Manager and PH Director regarding updates to personnel policies located within section 8 Employee Health and Safety within the LTDHD Personnel Manual.
- Responsible for conducting hotwashes, after action reports, and recommending areas of improvement after disasters, events, or other public health responses.
- Responsible for Employee Training and Drills related to emergencies and disasters. Responsible for ensuring safety measures and procedures are followed in all agency buildings. Assists with orientation and training of staff for response to emergencies and disasters both internally such as Active Shooter, Tornado, or other events related to staff and patient safety as well as public health response to community events requiring public health support or activation. Conducts safety drills, updates emergency evacuation plans, and maintains emergency contact listings for all LTDHD sites.
