NORTHEAST DELTA HUMAN SERVICES AUTHORITY MISSION:
Serve as a catalyst for individuals with mental health, developmental disabilities, and addictive disorders to help them realize their full human potential by offering quality, excellent care with greater accessibility.

Northeast Delta Human Services Authority is looking for a compassionate and experienced Practical Nurse Licensed 3 that will assist with clinical nursing duties as assigned, assisting the physician(s) in providing routine care to outpatient clients. The incumbent uses specialized skills to provide psychiatric nursing care to adults with multiple psychiatric and behavioral disorders.  The incumbent receives supervision from the RN Supervisor A in collaboration with the Facility Clinic Manager and adheres to the standards established for the nursing profession.  

Requirements

Possession of a current Louisiana Practical Nurse license, a temporary permit, or a multi-state license issued by a Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC/eNLC) state plus two years of experience as a licensed practical nurse.

Job Duties:
  • Reviews and prepares charts for medication management with necessary paperwork to include AIM, informed consent for meds, forms for lab monitoring, reassessment forms, and psychiatric update forms.
  • Work closely with NEDHSA Pharmacy to assist clients who have medication pickups.
  • Maintain order and integrity of health records. Conducts CPR training for the agency as needed. 
  • Maintain appropriate licensing and certifications, providing yearly verification. Perform other duties as assigned to assure the smooth operation of the organization.
  • Adhere to all LDH, NEDHSA, Civil Service, and professional standards, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.  
  • Participate in in-service training for staff and complete required training. Participate in behavioral health outreach initiatives.  
  • Observes clients to assess total health/clinic response to medications and interview clients individually during med management clinics to include:  screening for present mental illness, vital signs (b/p, pulse, respirations, temperature), and BMI calculations (weight, and height).
  •  Conduct AIMS assessments, provide crisis intervention, med education, monitoring, administration (if needed), and med management for adults with mental illness. 
  • Initiate treatment plans and schedule reassessments for med track clients, schedule initial and follow-up med management appointments for all clients, and adhere to UM guidelines.
  • Request lab according to NEDHSA lab guidelines, and provide instructions to clients.
  • Provide medication and health instructions and education, screening and referrals to PCP/local ER, for abnormal labs and vitals. 
  • Contact local pharmacies for clients, initiate and complete prior authorizations, diagnosis codes, and overrides for medications.
  •  Administer HIV, STD, pregnancy and tuberculosis testing; providing pre and posttest counseling for the aforementioned test. 
  • Administer IM injections, monitor responses to medication. 
  •  Staff cases with physician during med management clinic and complete written and electronic records with concurrent documentation.
  • May be required to perform other duties as necessary including, but not limited to emergency/disaster support services.

Location: Columbia Behavioral Health Clinic
Compensation: NEDHSA is a designated approved National Health Service Corps (NHSC) site. Clinicians who work at NHSC-approved sites are eligible to apply to the NHSC Loan Repayment Program to pay off student loans.
  • 2-year Full-Time Clinical Practice: NHSC will pay up to $50,000* for an initial 2 years of full-time clinical practice to clinicians.
(Full-time clinical practice is defined as no less than 40 hours per week, for a minimum of 45 weeks per year.)
